Dorothy Santoyo of Chicago, IL passed away at home surrounded by her loving family on Sunday, October 31, 2021. On May 17, 1940, Dorothy was born in Franklin Park, IL, a cherished daughter of the late Eufemio and Rafaela (nee Garcia) Santoyo. Growing up Catholic, she shared her childhood with eight surviving brothers and two surviving sisters. At age 3½, the family relocated to where Dorothy spent the rest of her life. Although remaining unmarried, Dorothy thoroughly enjoyed a full family life in innumerable get-togethers with family and friends. She also enjoyed a career in business accounting with a handful of Chicago companies; with the most rewarding in downtown Chicago. The latter provided her with financial means to travel abroad in her earlier years.
After the early deaths of our parents, Dorothy took on additional family duties and responsibilities in helping with daily household life. Moreover, for decades she provided a venue for an annual traditional just-drop-in, old fashion Christmas Day family get-together at her home. Moreover, she was so an avid lady of Bingo that her family nickname was Aunty Bingo.
Dorothy’s surviving siblings include: Fred, Pete (Eloise), Florentino II (Marylou), Annette Vargas, Jesse (Sally), Adolph (late Eleanor), Trino; along with numerous loving nephews, nieces, great nephews and nieces; and great-great nephews and nieces. Preceding Dorothy in death are parents Eufemio and Rafaela Santoyo; brothers Florentino I, Guadalupe and John; and sisters Tomasita and Lucille.

Dorothy was a wonderful woman and a kind neighbor. As one of the few people outside of my family that I can truly say I've know my entire life, she will be truly missed. May God Bless her and keep her.

When Tomorrow Starts without Me . . . When tomorrow starts without me And I’m not there to see If the sun should rise and find your eyes All filled with tears for me I wish so much you wouldn’t cry The way you do today While thinking of the many things We do not get to say I know how much you love me As much as I love you And each time that your thinks of me I know you’ll miss me too But when tomorrow starts without me Please try to understand, That an angel came and called my name And took me by the hand And said my place was ready In heaven far above And that I’d have to leave behind All those I dearly loved But when I walked through heaven’s gates I felt so much at home When God looked down and smiled at me From his great golden throne He said, “This is eternity, And I promise you Today your life on Earth is past But here, life starts anew” So, when tomorrow starts without me Don’t think we’re far apart For every time you think of me I’m right here, in your heart

My dearest Aunt Dorothy, my heart is broken with your loss and our family chain is shortened. I will miss you so much. I have such rewarding memories or my life growing up with you in it and will always be cherished. Always and forever in my heart, your loving niece.
