Geraldine (Gerri) B. Maionchi, age 91, went to her Eternal home in Heaven on September 15, 2019. Gerri was born to Raymond and Frances (Tworek) Schuhrke on November 10, 1927. She was preceded in death by her parents, her beloved husband Sirio (Sid) Maionchi, who passed away in 2009, her brother, Raymond Schuhrke, and her childhood friend, Darlene Seivertson.
Gerri and Sid were married in April 1952. They were blessed with four children: Richard (late Louise) Maionchi, Karen (late James) Hoppe, Gail Maionchi, and Dawn (Robert) Zemko. Her children gifted her with 14 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren, some of whom lovingly called her “Aunt Grandma.”
Gerri lived in Elmwood Park for well over 80 years. She loved her home, which was built by Sid. She worked at Sears for nearly 40 years and retired at the age of 70.
In their middle years, Gerri and Sid loved to travel. Their favorite place was Hawaii, which they visited 26 times. Gerri loved to bake and cook. She enjoyed gardening, feeding the birds and squirrels in her back yard, and shopping. Gerri enjoyed playing games and “window-shopping” online with her tablet. She was even on Facebook!
Gerri loved us all with all her heart, her children, grandchildren and great- grandchildren. She will be dearly miss by all of us and her many friends.
