Giuseppe Messina

Giuseppe (Joe) Messina, 83, died March 29, 2018, with his family by his side in Elk Grove Village, Illinois.
A visitation service will be held Monday, April 2, 2018, at Salerno Rosedale Chapels Roselle, Illinois from 3-9.
Joe was born August 31, 1934, in Campofelice di Roccella, Sicilia, Italia to Paolo and Rosaria Messina.

After serving in the Italian Army, he moved to Chicago in 1960 where he attended night school to learn the English language and where he met his wife Esther. Joe and Esther married April 25, 1965, and resided in Chicago, Illinois and started a family. Joe was a dedicated and hardworking man who worked as a clothing tailor for many years until the company closed. Joe and Esther then moved to Schaumburg, Illinois where he worked as a groundskeeper for Schaumburg Park District and retired in 1999. His interests included family, gardening, hunting for mushrooms, sewing, listening and singing to Italian music and watching Italian shows.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Esther (nee Limitone); brother, Ross; sons Paul (Marilyn); Dominic (Deborah); Ross (Marcia); daughter Rosemary (Mark); grandfather to Joseph, Nicholas, Alyssa, Anthony, Sydney, Madison, Morgan, and Andrew; and Dear uncle to many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his sisters, Maria; and Carmela.
