Gladys L. Benhart (nee Rateike), 101, died May 8, 2017 peacefully at home. Born July 21, 1915, to Paul and Anna Rateike. Gladys was the beloved wife of the late Harold whom she married in 1939, and was blessed with five children. Gladys loved reading, traveling, her beloved Cubs, and spending time with her family. She was a longtime member of Trinity Lutheran Church who always volunteered to do what was needed. She always put others needs ahead of her own and will be deeply missed. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold; sons, Allen and Chuck; sisters, Viola Schuler, Eleanor Schuler, Bernice Pfortmiller; and brother, George Rateike. Gladys leaves behind her daughters, Ruthann Bargmann and Karen (Ken) Dickenscheidt; son, Ronald (Arlene) Benhart; daughter-in-law, Gail Benhart; 10 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; brother, Paul Rateike; and many nieces and nephews. Funeral Saturday, family and friends to meet at 10 a.m. with a service at 11 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, 427 Rush St., Roselle. Interment Lakeview Cemetery. Visitation Friday, 4 to 9 p.m. at Salerno’s Rosedale Chapels, 450 W. Lake St. (¾ mile west of Bloomingdale/Roselle Road), Roselle. In lieu of flowers, donations to Lutheran Ministries for Shut-Ins appreciated. For information, 630-889-1700.

We're so sorry to hear of your loss. My moms 94 and still doing pretty well. Cherish all the good memories and never forget her.
