We knew Bert thru Our Savior Lutheran Church. When our daughter, Irene, was little; he always said hi to her with a smile on his face and would ask her about her schooling. He would speak with Rich and I about his experiences in the military as Rich was in the military as well. The last time we saw him in church, I went up to him to shake his hand and say hi - I told him it was good to see him, and he didn't miss a beat with his answer "Why yes it is." Rest in peace Bert and God's speed.

I’ll always remember Uncle Bert’s broad welcoming smile and a warm handshake . His witty humor, while occasionally corny, brought happiness to all around him. Houseboating with U.B. brought everyone onboard closer together with his knowledge of life and humorous antics he shared with us all. Uncle Bert, you will be dearly missed by all!!!
