Josephine C. Pope, Age 99
Born 11/10/1924 – Passed 01/23/2024
Josephine lived (99) wonderful years, raised in West Des Moines Iowa, as the baby of 9 children to Frank and Assunta LePera. After moving to Chicago, she met the love of her life, Alexander Pope, at the Paradise Ballroom. They married on January 27, 1945, and had 3 children: Sherry, Ralph (Carol), Frank (Denise), that they raised in Itasca. Josephine’s greatest joy was being with her family and grandchildren: Michael, Alex, Christine (Dane) and the late Frankie. She was also blessed to become a great grandmother to Christine and Dane’s children, Grace and Aubrey.
She was full of life, a loving, supportive and wonderful, wife, mother, aunt, friend, and businesswoman. In 1966 she proudly received a Citation of Excellence while being Postmaster of Itasca. She previously ran a Day Nursery and, ultimately, the family business, Pope’s Pizza Pub in Elk Grove. Some of her favorite pleasures were Italian food, bunco, dancing, sports, and watching the Cubs.
Josephine will always be remembered for her humor, positive attitude, and putting those she loved first. Her memory will live on in the hearts of those who remain and love her.
