I had the pleasure of working with Laurie at ACL back in 2017-2019. She taught me so much in my journey with ACL and was the kindest woman. She always kept an eye out for me and shared some great life advice along the way. We met a couple times for lunch when we could after our teams parted ways. She attended my mother's wake and was kind enough to share with me some of her personal religious items to ease my mother in her last days. This news is absolutely devastating and my heart breaks for her children. May you all find comfort in the memories of your parents and love of your family and friends. My deepest condolences to all of you.

I was so terribly saddened to hear this tragic news. I worked with Laurie for a few years at PCI. We kept in touch for awhile after she left there, but then we fell out of contact. She was such a nice person with a great sense of humor. We had a great time when she brought Derek to a Bears game against the Pittsburgh Steelers many years ago. Derek was a Polamolu fan, I think?? I don't normally sell my tickets to fans of the opponent, but I couldn't refuse Laurie. I also remember a time when she was collecting toilet paper tubes for one or both of her daughters for cheerleading. I think it was for Homecoming. They were going to fill the tubes with candy, wrap them, and throw them into the crowd at the game or maybe a parade. At any rate, she had several of us at work collecting empty toilet paper tubes for her. I remember being at a museum downtown, finishing the roll, and putting it in my purse to bring to Laurie. After about a month, she didn't need any more, but it was hard to break the habit! She laughed at me when I forgot and brought her more that I had scavenged from various places around town! May the Lord bless and keep her beautiful children and grandchildren in the palm of His hand during this difficult time.

I worked with Laurie at the Alliance of American Insurers, where she was the administrative assistant for at least two of my bosses. Laurie was one of the kindest, most competent people I've ever known, just a lovely person. May God rest your soul.

Laurie was dear friend and colleague - I am devasted. Laurie and I first met at ACL / Advocate Aurora Health, where we quickly became friends. We especially bonded over both of us being moms to 3 young-adult children; trying to make their way in this world - oh, how fiercely Laurie loved her children! I am forever grateful that a few months ago, we met on a Sunday afternoon for a long lunch, where we had a wonderful time catching up on each other's lives and talking about our favorite travel destinations. Laurie was a wonderful friend to have, who loved her children, husband, siblings, and extended family members like no other. Please accept my deepest condolences and thoughts of peace and strength to all that loved Laurie and Simeon.

I have been a wordsmith all my life - legal, political, management - but I have no words for how devastated I am by this tragedy. Laurie and I worked together for years and stayed in touch by email, even after I retired to North Carolina and she went to a different workplace. She always remembered my birthday and I always thanked her on Admin Day for all the great things we accomplished together. On those occasions we shared news about our families and plans for the future. I know how much she cared about each and every one in her family, what made each one a special person and all she hoped for each one. It breaks my heart to have lost this dear friend. Laurie, I will miss you and all that your kindness and friendship meant to me. May light eternal shine upon you. Ann W. Spragens

I was heartbroken to find out about this tragic loss. Cassie has been a dear friend of mine for about 7 years. The Hendrickson family has always welcomed me into their home with open arms. I always enjoyed attending their holiday parties. There was always so much joy and laughter from the family. My deepest condolences! I truly pray that you all can find peace in due time. Love, Jasmine Lawson and my baby girl, JaNova.

I knew Laurie in high school- She was so funny and wicked talented- girl could play guitar and ding like an angel- Laurie would house and it was there she taught me all about Minty Python - we’d plan skits of theirs for HOURS - we visited her grandmother on a road trip - she was my first friend in high school that had a car! I don’t think I was with her when she met Simeon but I heard all about their courtship ! I was in their beautiful wedding - still the most beautiful bridesmaids dresses.! Simeon was a young rowdy good looking boy when I met him and they fell in love fast!! As it is when one is young - we lost touch - I was off to college and “finding myself” and regretfully we lost touch. I’m deeply saddened by this - to their children I never met- you are in my prayers as they are - and I’m here for you- you see I owe them this as they were good friends in those years of serious growing up. To Laurie and Simeon - I’m so sorry we never reconnected - you are in my prayers as is your family

Laurie was such a wonderful and beloved teammate to everyone she came in contact with at Advocate Aurora Health (AAH). There is not enough words to describe how much we will miss her and appreciate all that she has done for our team and the organization during her time at AAH. On behalf of all of her AAH teammates, I want to extend our deepest condolence as our hearts and prayers are with your family.

This is such tragically sad news. I will always remember how kind Sim was to my mother, who liked him so much, and his offers to take me ice fishing. So big-hearted. I pray for the family in their grief.

I am so sorry for your tremendous loss. Sim was a great neighbor to my family for 23 years. Anytime we saw him, there was always a great conversation. I would always say how I loved his flowers in the front and he would always tell me, it's Laurie. She's amazing. Halloween was so special going to their house for trick or treating, my boys were very fond of Sim. Still can't believe they are gone. But they are together. How he loved Laurie. True love. Again, our heartfelt condolences to the family.
