Leelynn Ann (Lynne) Carey, nee Mattson, 68, was born on Valentine’s Day of 1953, the youngest of five. She passed away the morning of November 6th, 2021 with her devoted husband (Brian) by her side. She grew up in Brookfield, WI with her mother (Gretchen), father (Bill), and four siblings (Bill, D’Ann, Sandi, and Georgette). In her youth, she participated in 4-H, learning to sew from her mother, even sewing her own homecoming dress. She also enjoyed flying with her father in his airplane. In 1979, she met a Chicago boy named Brian through a mutual friend (Chef Larry Raymond). After 10 months of knowing each other, they knew it was meant to be. They were married on October 20th, 1979 in Brookfield, WI and moved to River Grove, IL. They spent a short time in River Grove, IL before moving to the Ravenswood neighborhood of Chicago, IL to live with and care for Brian’s aunt/godmother and uncle (Lillian and Hank Pedtke). In that home, she raised three children (Patrick, Katie, and Gretchen) teaching them the importance of family and helping others. Though she raised the children in Chicago, she made sure to keep them in touch with her Wisconsin roots. They spent their childhood summer vacations in her parents’ hometown of Webster, WI. Lynne spent many years working in banking, volunteering at her church and for her children’s activities, as well as caring for elderly people in her free time. Lynne retired in 2017. In retirement, she enjoyed traveling with Brian and spending time with her son and daughter-in-law’s (Kelly) children (Mary, John, Joe, and George) and her many grandpups. She was a beloved aunt to many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by her mother, father, and brother. She was loved by many and will be missed by all. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 10th from 3-8 p.m. at Salerno’s Galewood Chapels, 1857 N. Harlem Avenue in Chicago, IL. Service will be at 7pm . Interment will be private.

Katie and family - our deepest condolences to your family. I have so many wonderful childhood memories of time with all of you - dancing at LBP, sleepovers, and the years together at St. Philip. Your mom was always there, helping out with whatever it was we were up to; that's so special. Keeping you in our prayers during this difficult time and wish that you'll always look back on memories with fondness.
