Lolly, Rick and I want to extend out deepest sympathy on the loss of Pernell. I know it's been a long time, but we remember him well, and all our good times on Virginia Ave! He was a wonderful, kind, dear young man and has left us all too soon. Hoping you are okay and will contact us at some point.

Dear Julia. My deepest sympathy to you and his family. You both went thru so much but now he is at peace with no disabilities. You are a survivor and will get thru this with time. Believe me I know. Much love.

I took care of Pernell in the ICU as a new nurse after his accident in High School. As a new nurse he gave me more than he could ever know. He fought so hard to survive and I became a true believer in miracles . That experience stayed with me my entire career and life. Julia, I am so so sorry for your loss. You too fought by his side and gave him everything you could to support him. May he rest in peace.

PR was a great neighbor to my family for many years. He was always a pleasure to talk to and always had a smile on his face. May you rest in peace. Big hugs to Stephanie and Jimmy at this time.

Words are inadequate to describe Pernell. As I said to Julia earlier, I was honored to walk by his side and to have the honor of calling Pernell my friend. Pernell impacted my life and taught me so much about how to approach life. Pernell had a courage and humor which can be seen by the picture up above. When you even look into those eyes that might be somewhat tired, there is nothing I see but love and happiness, genuineness. I wish we had more time together. Time for more fun, more adventures and more memories. But I want you to know that the time we've had has been a gift, one that I cherish and will hold close to my heart forever. Pernell always did what he thought was right. If anything, he was a man of conviction. He is one of the hardest workers I have ever met. Going back to when we were kids, it was a simpler time (maybe all generations say that), but we would go to twin pools to swim, or ride bikes, go to the driving range. It didn't need to be complicated became it wasn't about what we did so much as who we were doing it with and Pernell was up for anything and I think that held true for Pernell for most of his life. To Julia and Pernell's children and Grandchildren please know how loved Pernell was by so many. The emails I am seeing from his friends at Red Oak are touching and that should put a smile on your face because Pernell put a smile on theirs.

Pernell was a blessing to know! He was a fighter for life since his accident in high school and an inspirational prayer warrior for me from afar! “When the One Great Scorer comes to write your name, He writes not that you won or loss, but how you played the game.” Grantland Rice See you in eternity PR!!
