Renee Marie Hespel, age 55, of Schaumburg, IL, passed away unexpectedly at home on January 17, 2024. She was a beloved daughter, mother, sister, aunt, and dear friend. Renee was born in Arlington Heights, IL on December 5, 1968 to Marshall and Janice Rizer. She was the second of two children, and is survived by her brother Michael (Jenny) Rizer. She attended Schaumburg High School, where she was an avid cheerleader and met lifelong friends. On June 11, 1989, Renee became a mom when she gave birth to her beloved son, Michael. Though she only had one child, Renee will be remembered for being a “second mom” to many of Michael’s friends, and always being present for every football, soccer, baseball and lacrosse game. Outside of her work in the Marketing & Printing world, Renee was a passionate and avid supporter of the Chicago Blackhawks. As a young girl, she would often go to Blackhawks games with her dad, and continued going to games into adulthood with family and friends. Renee’s relationship with her friends was extremely special. Her friends would describe her as loyal, spirited and so incredibly generous — always willing to lend a helping hand wherever she could. Renee is preceded in death by her parents Marshall and Janice Rizer and is survived by her son Michael (Megan) Hespel, her brother Mike (Jenny) Rizer, and niece Danielle (Justin) Krzeczkowski and great nephew, Dawson. Renee’s legacy will endure through the memories shared by those who had the privilege of knowing her. As we mourn her passing, let us also celebrate the positive impact she had on the world around her. She will be remembered fondly for her laughter, her caring nature, and the love she bestowed upon her family and friends. A memorial service to celebrate Renee’s life will be held on Wednesday January 24, 2024 at Salernos Rosedale Chapel. Visitation will begin at 4PM, with a service beginning at 7PM. Donations can be made in Renee’s memory to the Blackhawks Foundation at www.nhl.com/blackhawks/community/foundation or the American Heart Association at www.heart.org

I want to share a few of many memories I have about Renee. There isn't anything she wouldn't do for who she called "my people", and that was truth. She hated being warm and would adjust the room temperature no matter where she was. She loved to brush her really white teeth. Our really long conversations on the phone even after we were just out together. Her love and passion for the Chicago Blackhawks. You will be truly missed Renee but always in my mind. My heart goes out to the family and all of her friends. RIP my friend.

I had the opportunity to work with Renee at RRD. I don't recall one time ever seeing her not smiling and was a person I enjoyed being around. She was well liked and respected by everyone she worked with and will definitely be missed by all. My condolences to her family and please know that she is in my prayer's.

My name is Ronna, I don’t know Renee very well, but I had the opportunity to visit with her 3 years ago in January 2021 during a difficult time in her life and mine as well. Please accept my sincere condolences to you and your entire family on the passing of Renee. My heart is with you and your entire family in your time of sorrow. Wishing you peace and strength during this difficult time. Renee is gone now from this earthly dwelling, and has left behind those who mourn her absence. Grant that her family and friends may hold her memory dear, never bitter for what we have lost nor in regret for the past, but always in hope of the eternal Kingdom where you will bring them together again. Through Christ our Lord. Rest in peace Renee Amen.
