Roberta J. Saverino, fondly known as “Bobbie,” passed away Wednesday, March 6, 2024, at Northwestern Central DuPage Hospital in Winfield, Illinois, surrounded by her loving family. Bobbie was born in Chicago on September 23rd, 1943. She was the daughter of Robert and Estelle (Hahn) Frank. She married the love of her life and childhood sweetheart, Frank Saverino, and recently they celebrated 61 wonderful years of marriage. In 1967 they moved to Carol Stream and in 1981, together, they built a successful food brokerage company Saverino & Associates, Inc., where Bobbie served as Executive Vice President until her official retirement in 2008. Along with raising a family she was very active in the Brokerage Industry and held many positions within the Illinois Automatic Merchandising Council. She served as a board member of the Italian American Women’s Organization, which raises funds to support Camp One Step, a year-round free camp experience for children with cancer. Bobbie supported and enjoyed being a large part of her husband’s political campaign that began in 1994. She was often jokingly referred to as the “First Lady of Carol Stream” by her family and many friends when Frank was elected in 2007 as Mayor of Carol Stream, and in 2023, as he began his 4th term of office. To cherish her memory, she leaves her loving and devoted husband Frank of Carol Stream, four children, Mark Saverino, of Warrenville, IL., Jennifer (Roger) Saverino-Bayne, of South Elgin, IL., Frank (Karen) Saverino, Jr. of Bloomingdale, IL., and the late Dominic (Dana) Saverino of St. Charles, IL. She is a beloved “Nani” to seven Grandchildren: Bradley (Stephanie) Saverino, Nicholas Saverino, Katelyn (Andrew) Sibon, Frank Saverino II, Gianna Saverino, Dominic Saverino III and Isabella Saverino. Three beautiful Great-Grandchildren; Lucy Saverino, Logan Saverino, and Raegan Sibon., Sister Sylvia Frank Eddy, brother Daniel (Natalie) Frank.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her son Dominic Saverino in 2010, brother Wally Washlow in 2017, her brother-in-law, Howard Jay Eddy in 2009. Bobbie’s family was always very important to her, and she loved being a great Mom and loving Nani. She seldom missed a day without reaching out to them. Having Grandchildren and later Great-Grandchildren was the absolute joy of her life. They would plan movie nights together and other special events that she looked forward to and just treasured the time together. Bobbie touched so many lives with her kind ways and beautiful soul. She had a remarkable ability to make everything just fun, and she never turned down a good game of Mahjong with friends. Her cousins, many friends, business associates, along with extended families will deeply miss her. Each one of them has a story of how wonderful she was and how she made everyone around her feel very special and loved. A visitation will be held at Salerno Rosedale Funeral Chapel at 450 W. Lake Street in Roselle, IL 60172 on Sunday, March 10 th , 2024, from 3-9PM. Final viewing will be Monday, March 11th, 2024, beginning at 9:30 – 10:30 AM at Salerno’s Chapel with a procession to Corpus Christi Catholic Church located at 1415 W Lies Rd, Carol Stream, IL 60188. A funeral Mass to celebrate Roberta’s life will begin at 11:00 AM. Father Marek Jurzyk will officiate. Interment will be private at a later date. In lieu of flowers, Bobbie along with her family in 2018 established a charitable organization in the name of her late son Dominic Saverino. This charity benefits his alma mater, Glenbard North High School in Carol Stream with scholarships for students seeking higher education. Checks can be made out to Dominic Saverino Charitable Organization c/o Jennifer Saverino-Bayne 11 Vernon Ct. So.
