Salvatore D’Ugo age 93 died peacefully surrounded by family and close friends at the Amita Hospice Residence in Elk Grove Village, IL on November 16, 2019. Visitation will be held on Wednesday November 20th, 2019 at Salerno’s Rosedale Chapels 450 W. Lake Street, Roselle, IL from 3-9PM
Funeral mass will be held on Thursday November 21st at St. Walter’s Catholic Church 130 W. Pine Street, Roselle, IL at 10:30AM. There will be no burial in the United States, Salvatore’s final resting place will be in Sicily where he will join his beloved wife, Giacoma in eternal peace. Salvatore was born September 10th, 1926 in San Nicola Sicily to Antonino and Antonina D’ugo, he was the youngest of five children. The D’Ugo family believed in and practiced hard work and thrift to provide for the family. As farmers and fishermen, the food on their table was provided by the work of their own hands.
Salvatore met and married the love of his life, Giacoma in Porticello Sicily and had three sons, Antonino, Giovanni and Angelo. Salvatore moved his family from Sicily to the United States in 1969. Salvatore made his living in the U.S as a finishing tailor for Baskin. He retired in 1992 and moved back to Sicily with his wife. In 2010 Salvatore began to split his time between the United States and Sicily and enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Salvatore enjoyed fishing, gardening, making fish nets, singing Italian folk songs, playing cards, and telling stories. He was fondly known as “Papa” or “Zu Toto”, he was loved by many and will be missed dearly. Salvatore Dugo, beloved husband of the late Giacoma (nee Crivello); devoted father of John (Barbara), Antonino (Norine), and the late Angelo Dugo; loving son of the late late Antonino and Antonina; dear brother of Angelina; loving grandpa of Jennifer Dugo and dear uncle of many.

My heart hurts for you both. On Facebook pictures he was always smiling or laughing. It sounds like he had a wonderful life and lived it to the fullest. Much love you to both in this difficult time❤️
