Thomas A. Mika

Funeral Notes: All Services will be private
Interment: All Saints Cemetery

Thomas (Tom) Allan Mika, 63, joined God’s heavenly family on December 20th, 2020. He passed away peacefully at the care center in which he lived in Park Ridge. Born on January 22nd, 1957, Tom was the loving son of William and Ann Mika and younger brother to Joyce. Richard (Rick), and James (Jim). Tom had an indescribable way of connecting with everyone he came in contact with.

Growing up, Tom had a special connection with the family dog, Mandy. He preferred to spend his time entertaining and bonding with her. Throughout his years, Tom enjoyed reading the newspaper daily and spending time making latch hook rugs. Tom would always be caught singing and dancing to any music that was playing, no matter where he was. He loved watching all sports games and The Three Stooges. He would get a kick out of making everyone around him laugh and had a contagious smile and laugh.

Tom is mourned by his loving siblings Joyce (Jim) Pescetto, Rick (Patty) MIka, and Jim Mika. He is also survived by many aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews. He is preceded in death by his mother and father, William and Ann Mika. We will never forget Tom’s gentle and joyful demeanor that stayed true even at the end of his life.

Due to the current status of COVID-19, there will be a private funeral at this time. The family hopes to revisit a memorial service as an option as soon as possible. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to The Arc (thearc.org). This specific group was one that Joyce was a part of during her time caring for Tom. This group has advocated for the passage of state and federal legislation on behalf of people with disabilities. Our deepest gratitude is extended to all our friends and family that have supported, encouraged, and loved Tom throughout his life.
