Victoria Molina Bosque went to Heaven on July 9, 2023, at the age of 75.
Vickie spent her life as a dedicated wife and mother; adoring daughter, sister, and aunt; dutiful daughter-in-law; proud Lola; loving family member and friend to many; and devoted Roman Catholic and steadfast follower of God.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Angel and Salustiana Molina (née Pascua); brother Sergio (widow Lita) Molina; and mother-in-law, Matilde Bosque (née Bolusan). She is survived by husband Bartolome “Bart” Bosque; children Karla (Kevin) Goethals and Bryan Bosque; grandchildren Kendyll and Kaleb Goethals; siblings Pacita (Nemi, deceased) Jain, Rogelia (Napoleon) Ramiro and Antonio Molina; step-mother Norma Ortega Molina and step-brother Alex (Patricia) Abel; and countless cherished friends and family members.
Born in Ilocos Norte, Philippines, on October 24, 1947, Victoria was the youngest of five siblings in a family that championed the virtue of education. Though she lost her mother at the age of 9, she was nurtured by her loving family and went on to graduate as Valedictorian from Saint Andrew High School, and from the University of the Philippines as a Bachelor of Science in Social Work. Notably, she scored in the top 7 in her year in the National Board Exam for Social Workers prior to working with the Philippine National Red Cross, in the military sector.
Victoria immigrated to the US in 1972 to be nearer to her dear father and sisters in Chicago, Illinois, and eventually began a 33-year career as Customer Advocate with AT&T (then, Illinois Bell). Soon she started a family of her own, for whom she spent her life caring, providing, and uplifting, including caring for her mother-in-law long after her own retirement.
Through the years, she found purpose serving St. Matthew Church as a Sunday Mass greeter; as a sponsor couple with Bart in the Marriage Preparation Ministry; and taking part in many Filipino events such as Simbang Gabi. She was a longtime member of the Filipino-American philanthropic organization Bacarra USA, the University of the Philippines Alumni Association of Greater Chicago, and the DuPage chapter of PFLAG, the nation’s largest organization dedicated to supporting and advocating for LGBTQ+ people and those who love them.
Vickie loved accompanying Bart on their “walkathons” in local parks, as well as an occasional meandering drive. She loved swimming; taking time to find the one perfect Hallmark card for each person and occasion; and baking, especially banana “cake” for her family. She loved reading about Jackie Kennedy, Princess Diana, and Natalie Portman, among others. She enjoyed red meat, red wine, and frozen margaritas. She loved her siblings and her neighbors. Vickie loved singing, “The sun’ll come out tomorrow!,” and her favorite holiday was Easter, “because it’s the Resurrection – it means eternal life.”
