Wally (“Walleye”) Mroz, passed away on August 18, 2023 at 72 years young. Beloved husband
of Marianne C. Mroz (nee Barzano). Loving father of Jonathan (Jennifer), Michael (Angela), Ryan
(Lynette), and Daniel (Lisa). Beloved son of the late Alfred and Genevieve Mroz. Dear brother
to Frederick Mroz and Donna Bell (nee Mroz). Cherished papa to eight grandchildren: Sophia,
Laila, Gianna, Giovanni, Jett, Michael, Milana, and Ava. Wally started his young adult life by
serving his country in the Navy. After the military, he settled down with the love of his life,
Marianne, with whom he’d share a 50-year marriage, and started a family. Wally’s long career
as Director of Graphic Reproduction at Rush University Medical Center was decorated with
numerous accolades, including employee of the year. Wally lived his life his way- whether it was
cheering on his favorite team, the Chicago Bears, fishing many great lakes, hunting with friends,
or telling perhaps off color but hilarious jokes. He was an amazing husband, dad, papa, and
friend and dropped everything to help anyone in need. He leaves a legacy that is truly one of a
kind.

I just learned of Wally's passing today. Grade school friend of Wally, starting kindergarten with him at St. Celestine school in Elmwood Park in 1956! We were part of the "Chicago kids" from the other side of Belmont. Just a few weeks ago, several of us were looking to get together after all these years and we are very sorry we missed the opportunity to do so with Wally. Nevertheless, it's great to read how he was a dedicated family man and positively affected the lives of others. Our condolences and best wishes to your family. - On behalf of Carl Baldassarra, Gary Lark, Tom Penio and Dave Stachura.

So very sorry to hear about Wally passing. He was such a great guy. I had the pleasure to meet him at RUSH back in 1991when I brought over my Agnes Christmas card to have it printed. That became an annual tradition. Even after I left RUSH, and moved on to other things, I would always bring my card to him. He was the first one to see it, and would give me a thumbs up for the creativity. Although I offered to pay for the services he never accepted any money. He was a kind, funny and wonderful man. My condolences to Marianne and his lovely family.

My deepest condolences to the Mroz family. I had the pleasure of knowing and sharing in many hunting and fishing trips with Wally over the years and his smiling face and laughter was always there no matter how the fish were or weren’t biting, or if we even saw any game. He welcomed myself and my son as though we were his own every spring on our Missouri Turkey Hunts. Wally had to be one of the warmest, kindest and most generous men I’ve ever known and I know how important his friendship was to my family and he will be greatly missed.
