William Arthur “Bill” Chapman, born December 11, 1950 in Decatur, Illinois, passed away on November 13, 2017 following a long battle with cancer.
Bill was a proud veteran of the United States Marine Corps, a Vietnam Veteran, and Purple Heart Recipient as a result of injuries sustained on the battlefield in Vietnam on December 5, 1969. Retired from the United States Postal Service in 2008.
Bill is survived by his dedicated wife of 37 years, Pamela (nee Hauber); daughter and husband, Brittany and Ryan Evans; son, SSgt William Adam Chapman, USMC; and brother, Joseph Chapman. Bill will also be missed by his many in-laws; numerous nieces and nephews; and loyal friends, Ellis and Anita Charlton and Family of Salem, IL.
Bill is preceded in death by his father and mother, Joseph Raymond and Mildred Mae (nee Warmoth) Chapman; and brothers, Jack Mariner and Richard Mariner.
Memorial visitation at Salerno’s Rosedale Chapel, 450 W. Lake Street, Roselle on Monday, November 20, 2017 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Interment private at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, Elwood, IL.
Pamela, Brittany, and Adam would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the administration and staff of the Alexian Brothers Hospice Residence for the respect, dedicated care, and friendship that was shown to Bill while under their care over the last few months.
