Yvonne “Eve” Gorski (nee Garceau), 84, passed away peacefully on September 11th, 2023 surrounded by her loving family. She was born on September 21st, 1938 to the late Napoleon and Helen Garceau in Chicago. Loving mother of Laura (the late Andy Sewall), Linda (Brian Turner), and Beth (Tim Kalish). Proud grandmother of Brian (Erin), Jacob, Timothy (Christina), and Benjamin, TJ (Jenna), Travis (Alexis). Cherished great-grandmother of Charlotte, Nathaniel, Jeffrey, and Joanna, Carter, Lucy, Jameson, Caleb, Delilah and Logan. Loving sister of Joseph Garceau and Ruth Vito, beloved half-sister of Yvette, Rene, Jacque, Michael, Arthur, and Marsha. Married in 1957 to high-school sweetheart Anthony, they would soon embark on the journey of building a family after establishing their home in Franklin Park. Eve and her family were Parishioners of St. Gertrude’s Catholic Church. Eve began her professional career as a key-punch operator, but it was at Lutheran General Hospital where she found her calling as a Surgical Resident Coordinator. To her residents, she was not just a coordinator, but a guiding presence they affectionately referred to as “mom”; Eve was an artisan at heart – finding joy in the world of creativity. Her passion for ceramics was a testament to her ability to shape beauty from clay, while crocheting and sewing was a way to express warmth and love into every stitch (especially in baby blankets). Eve also enjoyed quilting, and artfully pieced together vibrant memories and patterns. She was a master of these crafts, and leaves behind handmade treasures that will continue to comfort those who were fortunate enough to receive them. Radiating in positivity and charisma, her infectious joy strengthened not only those who crossed paths with her, but built a resolve and strength that was with her until her final days. Eve inspired many and touched the heart of all that knew her. She will be greatly missed.

I am so going to miss you Eve. When we got together for family functions, your laughter made me forget how terrible the world has become. When I go Home, I'll look you up. All my LOVE!
