Alan E. Patterson, age 48, of Plano, IL died on Saturday, March 16, 2019 in Hayward, WI. One of five children, Al was born in Oak Park, IL on February 23, 1971, the son of Albert A. and Susan L. (Schilling) Patterson. Al grew up in Bloomingdale, IL and later moved to the Patterson’s lake house in Whitewater, WI. He graduated from Whitewater High School in 1989, and later received his Associate’s Degree in Automotive Service Technology from the College of DuPage. Al married Diane Ritter in 1999 and they had one son, Bradly Patterson. Al was also a father to Joshua Patterson and Benjamin Roeling. He enjoyed going to Bradly’s many band concerts and was proud of Bradly starting college at UW-Stout this past fall. Al also loved going to Josh’s school activities, and sharing his love for the outdoors. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, boating, four-wheeling, and snowmobiling in northern Wisconsin. He owned a cabin in Winter, WI where he spent most weekends enjoying the outdoors with his boys, good friends, siblings, and anyone else who wanted to join the fun. Al loved hosting friends and family up north whenever he could.
Al owned Al’s Car Care in Yorkville, IL for many years. He made friends with everyone who walked in his shop, and was always willing to help a friend or family member fix anything that had a motor. Customers would often see Al’s boys hanging out at the shop, and he loved to teach them all he could about motors.
Al leaves behind many loved ones who will continue to celebrate his memory by telling stories of times they shared with him. Al lived his life carefree, with no filter or fear of judgement. He was always the life of the party and could make anyone laugh. For anyone that had the pleasure to know Al, he will be truly missed.
He is survived by his three children: Bradly and Joshua Patterson of Plano, IL and Benjamin Roeling of Streator, IL; grandchildren, Michael and Matthew Roeling; his mother and father: Albert and Susan Patterson of Roselle, IL. He is further survived by his brothers and sisters: Dawn Patterson, Karen (Dirk) Gatewood, Eric (Julie) Patterson, and Nancy (Jesse) Debroux; his nieces and nephews: Corinne, Lauren, Jameson, and Cora Gatewood, Gabriel, Nathan, and Kayleigh Patterson, Adam and Owen Debroux; many close friends; aunts, uncles, cousins, and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his grandparents George and Anita Patterson and Oscar and Lillian Schilling.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, March 21, 2019 from 3:00 until 9:00 PM at Salerno’s Rosedale Chapel in Roselle, IL with visitation and a prayer service at 9:00 AM on Friday, March 22, 2019.
