On February 3, 2021, Heaven got a lot brighter as God welcomed into His Kingdom a truly remarkable woman. Carol Moukheiber, of Lombard, Illinois, left her earthly home to a place of brightness, a place of verdure, a place of repose, whence all sickness, sorrow, and sighing have fled away.
Carol lit up every room with her vivacious smile, bubbly spirit, and twinkling eyes. But in a relatively sudden turn of health, she rejoined her son in Heaven. She leaves behind her husband and soulmate of 54 years, Raja; her children and their families whom she adored – Patrick, Margaret, Makayla, and Makenna; Michael, Diane, Matthew, Alyssa, and Kyle; her daughter-in law-Alissa, her brothers Paul (Judi), David (Christine), and Albert (Hindy) and their families. She was preceded by her son Roger and her parents Annis and Barbara Mokhiber of Niagara Falls, New York.
There are no words to describe how much she will be missed. Our grief is great because of the love she built up here on Earth. We mourn because she is so loved. She was the best and most devoted mom, wife, sittee (grandmother), sister-in-law, cousin, niece, and friend. So many called her mom that people must have thought she had 40 kids!

For those who had the privilege of knowing her, you were blessed. She was a straight shooter, authentic in every way, and loved with her whole being. She was a very proud American of Lebanese descent whose concern and compassion for humanity knew no limits, whether it was human rights or anyone in need. A Niagara Falls native, she was also an avid Buffalo Bills fan. She had a child-like personality that brought joy to every conversation. She endlessly smiled, giggled, joked, welcomed, and above all, shared herself. Her heartfelt phone calls were a signature trait and illustrative of her care and compassion for people. She was a matriarch of her church and the unofficial chair of the welcoming committee, often bringing people home for dinner upon their first meeting. Her kind and loving spirit has paved a perfect path for her to heaven and laid a foundation for all of us to follow.

Unfortunately, due to COVID-19 restrictions, the Church cannot accommodate the many people who loved Carol for the family to receive condolences in person. Therefore, the FUNERAL SERVICE of Carol will be streamed LIVE this Saturday, February 6th, beginning at 9:45 a.m. Central Time via Saint George Cicero Church’s YouTube channel.
Once circumstances allow, a Memorial Service will be scheduled at Saint George Cicero Antiochian Orthodox Church and those who would like to offer condolences to the family in person may do so at that time.
May Christ, who is our life and resurrection, grant rest to the servant of God, Carol, with all the Saints and may He grant comfort to her family. May her memory be eternal!
