Donald Liehr

Donald Paul Liehr, beloved husband of Angela Liehr (Tufo/Potenzo) of Bloomingdale passed away peacefully on January 28th 2021. Born March 25th, 1937 in Maywood, IL to the late Dorothy and Andrew Liehr and stepson to the late Smitty. Caring brother to the late Rick (Claudette) Liehr, Carol (Ron) Tobias, Dorothy (Bill) Keefe and Eileen (Harold) Valine. Loving father to Lori (Jerry) Rumple, Nicole (Jeff) Bellingham and Derek Liehr. Devoted stepfather to Anthony Potenzo, Barton (Teresa) Potenzo, and Christopher (Shannon) Potenzo. Adored grandfather to Danielle, Maria, Bart, Sophie, Anthony, Sydney, Taylor, Parker, and Tatum and great grandfather to Sofia. Special mention of his dearest and lifelong friend Jerry Busby.
Don is a veteran of the U.S. Navy and served aboard the U.S.S. Franklin D. Roosevelt. Don went on to have a distinguished 30 year career with the Illinois State Police; where he retired as a District Commander with the rank of Captain.
The family will hold a memorial celebration of his life and will be announced on a later date. Don will be missed dearly by his family and friends, so next time you’re having a good Italian dinner, which was Don’s favorite with a glass red wine, raise your glass to the sky.
