Dr. Dominic “Dom” Costabile, age 79, of Lisle, IL, passed away peacefully on April 4th, 2025, surrounded by his loving wife & family at Edwards Hospital in Naperville, IL. Dom was the beloved son of the late Manfred and Mary Costabile, nee Santella. He is survived by his devoted wife, Barbara Costabile, nee Weisseg; his sister Mary (Bill) Bilyk; in-laws; close cousins; many loving nieces and nephews; and a vast circle of friends whose lives he touched deeply. He was preceded in death by his siblings Raphael “Ralph” (Kathleen) Costabile, Louis (Jackie) Costabile, Michaeline (Leo) Rojek, and Geneva (Egbert) Tiezzi. Dom was born on January 20th, 1946, in Chicago, IL, and married Barbara on March 26th, 1983. He was her loving husband for the last 42 years, and together they shared a wonderful marriage, filled with deep companionship, laughter, and mutual devotion. A cherished presence in his community and among his extended family, Dom was a man of many talents and endless curiosity. He delighted in sharing his passions with his nieces and nephews, and was always the first to lend a helping hand. To Dom, no one was ever a stranger—only a friend he hadn’t met yet. He had a gift for conversation, but an even greater gift for listening. Dom proudly served in the U.S. Air Force until 1969. He graduated from Lane Tech High School in 1964 and went on to earn his B.S. in Biological Sciences (Pre-Medical) from the University of Illinois at Chicago in 1971. After further studies in Italy and earning numerous academic honors, he received his medical degree from Midwestern University’s Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine in 1984. A devoted Family Medicine physician, Dom cared for countless patients throughout his career with compassion and integrity. His work extended beyond the clinic—he volunteered with the Blackfeet Volunteer Medical Corps and supported the education and career of Sister Doctor Beatrice. Even after retiring from traditional practice, he continued to care for others through his Functional Medicine clinic. Dom was a lifelong learner and found joy in woodturning, gourmet cooking, and restoring classic cars. He was a proud member of the Antique Whizzer Motorbike Club, the Morton Arboretum, and the Windy City Woodturners Club. As a doctor, he healed with more than medicine—he healed with kindness, presence, and soul. His legacy is one of love, laughter, and unwavering generosity. Though his absence leaves an ache in our hearts, we are forever grateful for the gift of his life. Visitation details to be announced. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Dr. Dom Costabile’s name may be made to the Lisle Benedictine Sisters’ Imiliwaha Fund
