Dr. Leo F. Baranowski

Dr. Leo F. Baranowski, age 96,died Friday, October 20th, at his River Forest home with his family at his side. Leo is survived by his children, Elizabeth Baranowski (Vincent) and Tom (Tina) Baranowski. His daughter-in-law Lorrie Baranowski, Brother-in-law to Kathleen Wytmar and Ronald Kaftanski.

Leo was preceded in death by his beloved wife Dolores (Kaftanski) and his son Gregory Baranowski.

Leo was devoted to his country as he served for 30 years in the United States Army. He was a WWII veteran and retired as a full Colonel in the US Army Dental Corp. Once he retired from the Army, he opened a dental practice in Oak Park and also was a professor at the University of Illinois Dental School.

Leo was a world traveler, making many friends along the way. With his wife Dolores, he loved to host amazing parties in his home, making sure the perfect food and libations were served, especially champagne and wine.

His passions were skiing in Switzerland, Germany and Italy, Golfing at St. Andrew’s in Scotland and various other courses. Drinking the best wines of Napa and Sonoma, a favorite place to vacation..

Memorial Service will be held, Saturday, November 4th at Salerno’s Galewood Chapels, 1857 N. Harlem Avenue, Chicago, IL 60707. Visitation scheduled 12-4 p.m.
