Franklyn H. Schellinger
Franklyn (Frank) passed away peacefully on August 29th. He was born in 1937 in Hartford, Wisconsin to the late Art and Natalia (Schoebel) Schellinger. After growing up on a dairy farm, Frank graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from Marquette University, where he met his beloved late wife Sigrid, nee Dietrich, who he married in July of 1963; He is survived by his children, Susan (Bill) Tice, Michael (Lissa) Schellinger, Patrick (Sherry) Schellinger, Karen (Matt) Ritterbusch, Janet (Kipp) Elsbernd and his grandchildren, Nick, Ally and Josh Schellinger, Madison (Josh) Sweetman, Sam and Gabe Ritterbusch, Adrianne, Joel, Abby, Rosie, Aaron and Zoe Schellinger, Lucy, Walter, Blaise and Alice Elsbernd, and great grandchildren, Eden and Phoebe Sweetman; Sisters-in-law Trudy (Dietrich) Durand and MaryLee (Luedtke) Schellinger, Brother-in-law Marvin Hoffmann, and many nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family; Frank was preceded in death by his siblings, Victoria Theisen, Ralph Schellinger, Florian Schellinger, Bernard Schellinger, Eileen Hoffman and Eugene Schellinger; Frank enjoyed spending many hours gardening in his backyard tending to his vegetable gardens, where he loved to give away extra produce and also to pass along his gardening tips, which led to his nickname “Green Thumb.” He loved travelling, visiting Germany, Poland, Austria and other European countries, also South America, Alaska and Hawaii. He was very involved in the St. Isidore Parish in Bloomingdale, volunteering on the Finance Committee, Parish Council and as an Usher. He participated in Faith Sharing groups, Marriage Encounter and in Bible Studies. Frank worked for decades as a CPA, when semi-retired he enjoyed doing consulting work that took him overseas, and in his retirement, he worked as a school bus driver. Visitation Friday Sept 15 from 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Salerno’s Rosedale Chapels, 450 W Lake St. Roselle. Funeral Saturday 8:30 a.m. from the funeral home to St. Isidore Church, Bloomingdale for Mass at 9:30 a.m. Interment Assumption Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, masses appreciated or donations to the Alzheimer’s Association (www.alz.org).
