Joan Brandonisio of Bloomingdale, formerly of the Villages, FL., beloved wife of the late Louis, devoted mother of Joseph (Vincenza); proud grandmother of Paolo; loving daughter of the late Christine and Joseph Pontarelli and dear aunt of Anthony and Michael Brandonisio.

Joan trained as an actor at Actors Company and as a dancer at the Jo Keith Studios in Chicago. In later years she studied drama at the College of DuPage, Wheaton IL. and at Daytona Beach State College. In retirement she appeared in productions at DBSC, Ormond Beach Performing Arts Center, and the Daytona Playhouse.

In Chicago, Joan’s career took her from a Page girl at CBS to J. Walter Thompson Advertising, and then to Ft. Leonard Wood, Missouri where her husband Louis was stationed. She worked for the Civil Service as an assistant to the 5th Army Discharge Representative. Upon their return to Chicago, Joan went to work for Look Magazine, Advertising. When their son Joseph went to Kindergarten she joined Wood Dale School District and worked there for 13 years. When Joseph went to college Joan joined United Airlines and retired in 1991 from their Executive Offices as a Distribution Systems Analyst.

Joan enjoyed water color painting and wrote an Entertainment column for a Volusia County newspaper, and for the Daytona Beach Shores Pelican when living in that area. She volunteered for various organizations and served on the Parks and Recreation Board for the Shores.

At The Villages she participated in the Tall Trees Ladies Club, Watercolor, Bridge, Uke, Mah Jongg and various dance groups.

Funeral Wednesday, family and friends are invited to gather 9:30 a.m. at Salerno’s Rosedale Chapels 450 W. Lake St. Roselle, IL. 60172 (3/4 mile west of Bloomingdale/Roselle Rd.). Funeral Service will begin at 10:30 a.m. Interment private at Queen of Heaven Cemetery. Visitation Tuesday 4:00-9:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations to St. Jude Childrens Hospital appreciated. www.stjude.org
