John A. Santoro, Age 79. Beloved husband of Elisa (nee Mondia) Santoro. Loving father of Krista (Michael) Augusta. Devoted son of the late Jerome and the late Angela (nee Natale) Santoro. Cherished Papa of John and Drake Augusta. Dear brother of Nick (Linda) Santoro and Geraldine Gall. Fond uncle of Jerry (Angela) Santoro & Lisa (Derek) Gordon; great uncle of Blake, Gianna, Nicholas, Jerome and great great uncle of Theo. John grew up in Chicago; he attended St. Thomas Aquinas School and was very active at same church as an altar boy. He also attended Fenwick High School where, along with a strong hold on academics he was part of The Fenwick Friar championship football team. From there he moved on to Lewis College, again carrying his high academic requirements, he was also an outstanding baseball pitcher for the Lewis Flyers under the coaching of Gordie Gillespie. As sports go, John had a very competitive nature and loved a challenge. He played hockey until he was 50 years old and his golf game was very precise, he achieved low scores with each game, even now. Through his career, he was a science teacher at St. Pius X in Lombard. Then his ambitions moved on to Texaco and the transportation and printing industries where he held high level positions in management and created professional quality training materials John was very active in many other organizations. Most importantly, John loved his family. The best husband any woman could ask for. Being a brother, uncle, cousin, father and grandfather was always top priority with him. John was extremely kind, intelligent and very well spoken. He kept friends throughout his whole lifetime and made new ones every day. His warmth, understanding, elegance, and sense of humor made him a magnet to all. There is a very big hole in the world today with the passing of John. He will be sorely missed by all.
