Maryann Traficante Mills, 76, joined her father and mother in eternal life on Saturday November 7, 2020.
Born to Michael and Angela Traficante on January 5, 1944, Maryann was the adoring older sister to Carolyn (Geary) Meanza, and Michele (Joseph Jr.) Merrick. Maryann’s father owned Traficante Brother’s Pharmacy on Taylor St. in Chicago. She grew up surrounded by laughter, food, togetherness, and family.
Maryann attended DePaul University in Lincoln Park, majoring in Microbiology where she met her future husband, David Mills.
Maryann and David were married the day after Christmas in 1966 before heading to live in Bologna, Italy where Dave was playing professional basketball. Maryann and Dave spent 53 beautiful years together welcoming three children; Michael (Saundra), David, and Marisa. Her children were the focus of her entire life. With unwavering love, she nurtured and supported her family with a thoughtful and devoted heart.
The greatest joys of her life came with the birth of her two granddaughters, Gia in 2005 and Kirianna in 2016. The remarkable, genuine, and unending love, and the extraordinary connection she shared with them was inspirational.
Maryann had a life filled with love and surrounded by light. A constant storyteller, a trusted and loyal confidant, a lover of nature, art, cooking, and football; her presence will live on in the hearts of all who loved her. Maryann was deeply cherished and will be forever missed.
